Introducing Sally

Today we met Sally, a rescue dog previously introduced here on the blog.  She seems like the perfect fit for us and we're hoping the rescue organization thinks the same way for us too. There is another family that's interested in adopting her, so the group will choose on the behalf of the dog. We should know within the next two weeks after a home visit and one last check up. While I'm trying not to get my hope's up, I'm sure that the length of this post is likely not preparing me well for not getting her.....

She's originally from Ohio and was rescued from a pound when she was pregnant with 6 pups. The rescue organization is pretty sure she was abused as some times during training, she'll flop down on her back as if to demonstrate submissiveness. We're planning on doing obedience classes with her so that we don't "encourage" that behaviour.

She seemed pretty interested in us, sniffing away and all. She also didn't bark at all and enjoyed the pets.

Here she is in her hopefully new favourite cuddle spot. She apparently also really likes to wear sweaters & jackets. :)

Knowing that she's always checking in with her current foster mom, is a great sign; she's quite a non-dominant dog. Here I think she was demonstrating the commands that she knows (so far just "sit" and to look up when her name is called). This pic also demonstrates her one-ear-up, one-ear-half-down look.

I wanted to take a picture of her coat as I think she looks a bit like a cow pattern-wise. You can see her tail wagging pretty viciously here -- boy can that thing move fast!

Sally was a young mom and took her job as a mom very seriously. Her pups have grown now and she is ready to enjoy life without the responsibily of pups! She is fun little girl, appr 30 pounds, active and a cuddlebug as well. She gets along with other dogs and would like to live with another dog she could be pals with. Sally would enjoy a home with a fenced yard so she can run. Sally has ignored the cat in her foster home, She has lived in a home with children, dogs and cats. Sally can be shy when you first meet but warms up quickly. She loves to wrestle and play. Sally is microchipped, vaccinated, spayed, dewormed and treated with Revolution.
