A typically weekend for Heather, Lenny, & Sally

The geckos are shedding right now. It's pretty ugly looking, but also kind of fascinating. I'm not daring enough to take a better picture from within the tank, but here's one from through the glass. 

Lenny has been doing a Super job getting acquainted with our bread maker. Here's a delicious "peasant" loaf, which lasted about 3 days -- a new record!

After work on Friday night, we headed up to Toronto for Lenny's cousin Steph's birthday party. She always has the most beautiful cakes. You might remember the blue one I posted a picture of from her party last year. Oh, AND, they are Quite delicious.

Approaching Easter time in my family meant hot cross buns. Lenny had never had them before he met me, but I'd never had the Italian pre-Easter treat: zeppole. These things are sinfully delicious. If anyone knows where to get some in London, please do share. I will be forever grateful :D

With cake comes espresso. Ooooooooooooh yeah. :)

Lenny and I were going back and forth as to whether or not "coffee and cake" would be just coffee and cake. We needed to know whether or not to stop for dinner, or just count on there being a lot of snacks to eat for dinner. When we called his mom from the car to settle the dispute her response was so cute and very typical-Italian: "It will be just cake and coffee.... *pause*.... but there will also be snacks so don't eat too much at dinner." lol. Just cake :)

This was the gift we got Steph for her birthday. A beautiful spring like photo box from Winners.

And some spring goodies inside: some spring rain tea lights with holders, a light green pashmina scarf, and some nice smelling Wellington Boot soaps. It was kind of cute how big of a hit the Wellington Boot Soaps were. It's always an awesome feeling to put together a gift that's so well received.

Well that's pretty much a recap of the weekend. After we got back today, I did a lot of spring cleaning like taking the plastic insulation off of the windows and vacuuming the whole first floor with the windows wide open. Thankfully Sally is Exhausted from all of her adventures with Dakota this weekend and has pretty much slept the whole time. 

Time to go finish the laundry!

Sally Attack!

Sally gave some love to a blue dress shoe I accidentally left out this afternoon. Funnily enough I was out buying two new pairs of dressy flat shoes when this happened. :-/

She's still the cutest thing going although Lenny and I are both at a loss as to why she's started chewing things now after being a-ok with nearly everything for several months.

Today at Loblaws I saved $28.69 using 21 coupons -- definitely a new record for me. I have a lot of coupons expiring March 14 and March 31, so I wanted to use as many as made sense to (it's on sale, or I'd be buying it this week anyways is my general rule of thumb). Here are some of the deals:

After groceries, I was able to find two new pairs of shoes for myself at a verrrrry busy mall (hello March Break!) and put together a gift basket for Lenny's cousin's Steph's birthday on Friday. Tomorrow I'll hopefully finish up with my dad's birthday gift, get some things from Shoppers, and perhaps take the car in for an oil change. Oh, and seeing as it's supposed to be a sunny 14 degrees, hopefully I'll feel up to taking Sally out for a run.

Hockey, Music, and More Hockey

How bad is it that I had to think about how to spell hockey properly?! I almost spelled it without the "e"...

Anyhow...

Lenny and I enjoyed the OUA Women's Hockey finals last week. Western was playing Laurier, and I'm happy to report that Laurier won 5-1! My cousin is a rookie on the team, but scored an assist and a goal, so it was extra exciting for us to see. Here are some pictures of our evening at the game:

Neither Lenny nor I had ever seen the Western Bouncy 'Stang, but it was rather ... amusing to watch it bounce up and down.

On Sunday, March 4 I did a concert with the London Community Orchestra. I have so few pictures of me actually performing over the years so I'm grateful Lenny took a few at this concert. 

That's me in the middle, being extremely grateful that the Haydn Variations are over and a little confused the conductor didn't acknowledge any of the soloists...

Thursday night this week, Lenny & I and a bunch of his work colleagues went to an OHL game in town. While we really had a great time, Sally seemed to think we shouldn't have left her alone...

She was very not impressed with the routine of us being home at night interrupted. I'm sure a lack of exercise that particular day didn't help things along at all either. Well live and learn. Today we took her for a 30 minute brisk walk in the morning and she's still sleeping it off. She didn't even really want to move very quickly for her evening walk, but who can blame her with a super cold wind and snow falling. It made a good excuse to take her to the dog park and watch her romp around there in the snow :)

Well that's all for now. I'm tuckered out enough that my sentences are coming out very easily :)

Adventures with Sally

It's hard to get a good picture of Sally that fully captures his cuteness. The above picture is fairly awesome though.

This week Sally decided that chewing my phone charge and Lenny's lap top cable were good ideas... I didn't take a pic of the laptop cable, but here's my phone charger:

Lenny's out purchasing our replacement cords now, so I'm going to go out and take Sally for a walk in the park before my Uncle gets here. My cousin (his daughter) is playing in the OUA finals here, so Lenny and I are going to go and try to figure out which team to cheer for :)

Shoppers Drug Mart Fun Times

I had two really inexpensive shops at Shoppers this week thanks to my crazy coupon skillz. I've been finding that  it's kind of fun to peruse the fliers in the evening when there's nothing on TV and Sally feels like cuddling and nothing else. Here were some of the excellent finds:

- Dempsters bagels on sale for $2.99 each - $1.00 off coupons
- Kashi cereal on sale for $3.99 each (?!! - this is the best deal I've found on Kashi cereal in a while)
- Eggs on sale for $1.99 / dozen - $0.50 off coupons
- Kraft peanut butter on sale for $4.99
- Cadbury mini eggs on sale for $0.99 each (end-of-the-week celebration!)

- Old Spice body wash on sale for $3.99 - $1.50 off coupons
- Jamieson B12 vitamins on a 30% off sale for $8.29 - $2.00 off coupons
- Dove body wash on sale for $3.50 - $2.00 off coupons

In hindsight I also think I used one Royale tissue coupon when I shouldn't have, but the cashier tonight forgot to enter one of the $1 off coupons on today's purchase, so I think it all worked out in the end.

This weekend I'm hoping to hit up Metro and Walmart. Walmart will involve an epic Campbell's condensed soup purchase because they're on sale for $0.50 each and I have a bunch of "$1.00 off when you buy 4" coupons so hello $0.25 soups!
