Couponing Success

Today I managed to buy our weekly groceries for $48. Granted we will be thawing out some frozen broccoli soup and I didn't have to buy any "snacks" (granola bars, apple sauce, yogurt) because we have plenty left over from last week. Here are some of the great deals we scored at Metro:

  • 3 pork tenderloins -- on sale and had a $4 off peelie as expiry is tomorrow; no problem... will make two for dinner and freeze the other -- $12.23 - $4 = $8.23
  • Artisan smoked ham & parmesan salami -- on sale for $2.49/100g + I had a $1 off coupon when you spend $5 on the Artisan Deli Collection (the coupon was conveniently located at the deli counter... :) )
  • Old El Paso Kit - on sale for $3.99
  • Lean ground beef - $4.99 - $4 off coupon from an old Old El Paso kit WUB a new Old El Paso kit
  • Campbell's soups - got 4 bonus Air Miles for buying 3 and used two $1 off coupons for the low fat cream soups (coupons conveniently located by the soups)
  • 2 Smucker's jams on sale for $2.50 - two 75 cent off coupons foun dat Metro a few weeks ago
Not too shabby at all! Here's what we're planning on having this week:

Breakfasts
  • homemade banana muffins
  • possibly homemade bran muffins (we'll see how muffined-out we get)
  • toast with peanut butter and our new Smucker's jams
  • Special K cereals for Lenny (he's a fan; I am not)
  • egg white omelet with red peppers
Snacks
  • Yoptimal yogurt cups
  • Applesauce
  • Boiled eggs
  • Nutrigrain bars
  • All-Bran bars
  • Strawberries, blueberries
  • Possibly an apple pie/cobbler
Lunches & Dinners
  • Sandwiches
  • Thawed broccoli soup, Lipton Sidekicks
  • Shepherd's pie
  • Pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes and peas
  • Hamburgers & veggies

Here's to planning and surviving a Saturday trip to the grocery store!
